Colophon - Travertine & Wood Pendant light

A cylinder of raw travertine, with thick walls riddled with small cavities, passes through a wooden disc that extends widely on either side, like the brim of a hat. The wood forms a clean, almost flat horizontal base on which the stone rests, with the entire piece suspended.

The Travertine & Wood pendant light Colophon takes its name from the ancient Ionian city of Colophon, on the coast of present-day Turkey, which once administered the nearby sanctuary of Claros and its oracle, a stone city also known for the simplicity of its architecture.

Once the bulb is switched on, light escapes through the bottom of the travertine cylinder and casts a round, focused glow onto the table or worktop, while the wooden disc remains in shadow. Two wood finishes are available: a light wood version, which emphasizes the disc's lightness and complements the pale tones of the travertine, and a dark wood version, which contrasts more sharply with the light stone for a more graphic silhouette.
